While exploring the French Riviera and the sun-drenched countryside of lower Provence, Purchase College, offers a five week program in June which combines intensive work in the study of French language (taught in French) with study of either Journalism, Playwriting or Photography (taught in English by Purchase faculty) for a total of eight credits.

Program Description:

Participants will experience French language and culture as students at an international summer school in Montpellier, France. With a population of 230,000, Montpellier is the dynamic capitol of the Languedoc-Roussillon region located in the south of France on the Mediterranean Sea. Known for medieval architecture, Montpellier is also a modern city exhibiting a vitality that includes festivals, theater, music, dance, and more.

-4 cultural workshops highlighting traditional dance, music, and cuisine

Program Description:

The SUNY-Oswego summer program in Nice offers two different program options. Program Description:

The program is a concentrated version of Geneseo's unique Humanities II course, a required course and part of the core curriculum. It satisfies the Western Civilization general education requirement of SUNY. This course is held in Paris, one of the world's greatest centers of learning, steeped in history, surrounded by the living evidence of human creativity. The program runs in July and August (dates vary from year to year). Students study Western literature, history, culture, and institutions, primarily through great works of Western European thought from 1600 to the present. Students will live in student housing close to the Latin Quarter with private bath, breakfast, and one other meal per day. Kitchen facilities are available.

Eligibility Requirements:

Priority will be given to Geneseo students who have completed Humanities I and have at least a 2.75 GPA, although non-Geneseo students are welcome to apply.

Beautiful, romantic Paris has always been, and remains, the very heart of French culture. The SUNY New Paltz Summer Study Abroad program in French offers four weeks of intensive study in Paris. Students take classes at the French Language and Culture Institute (ILCF), founded in 1948, which annually welcomes thousands of students from all over the world. It is located within the prestigious Catholic Institute of Paris (ICP), a stone's throw from the Latin Quarter, Saint-Germain-des-Prés and Montparnasse districts in Paris.
